Art Houtteman carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at Forbes Field as the
Philadelphia-NL Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 2.

Houtteman(16-7) pitched a solid game.  He was reached for 4 hits and 2 walks
in 7 and 1/3 innings.  The right-handed Houtteman lost a no-hitter when Danny
O'Connell singled with one out in the 6th inning.  Houtteman got relief help
from Al Benton who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 9th
save.  

Allie Reynolds(6-11) was given the loss.  He couldn't find the plate, issuing
9 walks in 6 innings.  Wth the win Philadelphia-NL now has a record of 72-45.
With the loss, the Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 53-64.
