Ed Morris went the distance and catcher Fred Carroll had 5 hits and 3 RBI at
League Park as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys beat the Cincinnati Red Stockings by
the count of 12 to 9.

Carroll had a big day with his bat.  He slapped a base-hit plating a run in
the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, doubled bringing in a run in the
6th inning, doubled which scored a run in the 7th inning and ripped a
one-base hit in the 9th inning.  Pittsburgh managed 15 hits in their victory.

Morris(26-17) was the winner allowing 9 runs for the game. Lee Richmond(0-1)
was given the loss.  He was knocked around by Pittsburgh, allowing 15 hits
and 4 walks in 9 innings.
