Mike Sullivan allowed Arthur Irwin to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at Polo Grounds as the pitiful St. Louis Browns lost a heartbreaker to
New York Giants by the score of 5 to 4.

The game was won by New York with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After an out was recorded, Mike Tiernan tripled.  Bill Joyce stepped up to
the plate and he ripped a single making New York the winners and sending the
3,456 fans home happy.  New York rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Sullivan(12-6) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Bill
Kissinger(5-7) was given the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 10 hits in 8
and 1/3 innings.
