Second baseman Bid McPhee had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at
League Park.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Cincinnati came out the
victor in the 11th inning.  Jake Beckley lined a base-hit, and an error was
also committed.  After an out was recorded, Beckley proceeded to steal third
base.  McPhee then lashed a single resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Cincinnati and the 10,914 home town fans in attendance.  Cincinnati had 12
hits for the afternoon.  

Bill Dammann(11-6) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Ed
Murphy(3-5) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 5 hits in 2
and 1/3 innings.
