Patsy Flaherty had a complete game and third baseman Tommy Leach had 2 base
hits as the Pittsburgh Pirates staged a dramatic comeback over the Brooklyn
Superbas by a score of 4 to 3 at Exposition Park.

Pittsburgh came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. After an out was recorded, Jack Gilbert was the sparkplug when he drew
a walk. Flaherty followed next and he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run giving Pittsburgh the victory as 16,190 happy fans celebrated wildly.
Pittsburgh had 9 hits for the afternoon.

The win went to Flaherty(12-8) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Oscar
Jones(11-18) was hit with the loss. Flaherty and Leach were really whooping
it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. As
Pittsburgh's manager noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's
attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even you guys
- it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
