St. Louis-AL took the lead off Long Tom Hughes in the first inning when they
scored 3 runs on 3 hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Tully
Sparks(6-10) and St. Louis-AL.  That was all the run support Sparks required.
St. Louis-AL had 11 hits overall, while Washington had 8.  

Sparks got help from Addie Joss who was credited with his 17th save.  The loss
