Barney Pelty allowed just 2 hits as the St. Louis Browns defeated the
Washington Nationals by a score of 2 to 1 at Sportsman'S Park.

St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with
2 runs using 2 hits.  After an out was recorded, Ben Koehler got things
rolling when he delivered a single.  One out later, Pelty stepped in and he
drew a walk.  George Stone then tripled scoring two teammates.  The teams had
been locked in a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.  

The victory went to Pelty(12-11) who went the distance allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Happy Townsend(6-12).  He allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk
in 8 innings.  

'He came out with good stuff,' St. Louis' manager said about Pelty. 'He threw
the ball good from the first pitch on.'
