WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Mike Powers blocked the plate, saving a run!

The Boston-NL Beaneaters edged the St. Louis-AL Browns at South End Grounds by
the score of 4 to 3.

In the bottom of the 7th inning Boston-NL scored 3 runs when they came up with
3 base hits. They ended up being the winning runs. St. Louis-AL made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The victory was credited to Nick Altrock(15-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Charlie Chech was credited with his 8th save. Ed Reulbach(13-8) was
the losing pitcher in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not
allow an earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work.

With this win, Boston-NL has a 60-53 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
an impressive recent record of 8-2, St. Louis-AL hopes this will only be an
isolated loss - followed by another nice run.
