Right fielder Ty Cobb cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a
grand slam at Shibe Park where the New York-NL Giants beat the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics 9 to 2.
Cobb provided the offensive punch. He launched a rocket-shot out of the park
for a Grand Slam homerun in the 2nd inning and doubled in the 4th inning.
For the game New York-NL out-hit Philadelphia-AL 12 to 7.
The win went to Nap Rucker(13-11) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 1/3 innings. Art
Fromme(7-13) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 1
and 2/3 innings.
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Brian Capsello. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins
together and turn things around!'
