Mel Parnell was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the New York-AL Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 10
innings by a score of 3 to 2.

Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings.  New York-AL ended up
winning it in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Gil Coan started
the rally when he smacked a single.  Gus Zernial came next and he laced a
base-knock.  Richie Ashburn then slapped a base-hit which scored a run.  One
out later, Del Ennis came to the plate and ripped a single making New York-AL
the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.  New York-AL rapped out
8 hits for the night.  

Parnell(8-6) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Bubba Church(4-9)
took the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and 4 hits in 2 and 2/3 innings.
