Left fielder Fred Carroll had 3 base hits and scored 4 times and Harry Staley
was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as
the Pittsburgh Alleghenys topped the Chicago White Stockings by a score of 13
to 11 at West Side Park.

Staley(9-7) got the win despite looking shaky at times.  He gave up 11 runs,
14 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings and surrendered 2 'round-trippers'.  It was
roller coaster of a game as the lead change hands 6 times.  

George Borchers(7-3) was the losing pitcher.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing
14 hits and 6 walks in 9 innings.
