Bunk Congalton had 2 base hits at Bennett Park as the Detroit Tigers staged a
comeback win over the Boston-NL Beaneaters by the count of 6 to 5.

Detroit won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 5 hits.
Harry Arndt led off and he delivered a one-base hit. Johnny Evers came to
the plate and drew a walk. Joe Yeager then slapped a base-hit to load the
bases. Jim Nealon followed and he grounded into a double play plating a run.
Branch Rickey came up to bat and lashed a single scoring one more run.
Topsy Hartsel added his contribution to the rally and delivered a single.
Congalton stepped into the batter's box and he banged out a base-hit giving
Detroit the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Detroit had 13
hits for the afternoon while Boston-NL had 9.

The winning pitcher was Red Ames(11-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Charlie Chech(1-8) took the loss in relief. 'We just wouldn't give up,'
Congalton said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the
whole way.'
