In a good matchup it was the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 7, the Chicago-NL Cubs
4 at Columbia Park.

Wildfire Schulte provided much of the offense.  He tripled which was good for
two runs in the 1st inning, tripled in the 3rd inning and tripled which
brought home a run in the 4th inning.  Chicago-NL had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.  

The winning pitcher was Frank Owen(6-17) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Roy
Patterson recorded the save, his 7th.  Doc Scanlan(8-12) took the loss.  He
allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.  

'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Lee Palmer
said after the game.  'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
