Pittsburgh erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they scored 6 runs on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Hank Sauer who deflated the crowd as he stroked a base-hit bringing in two baserunners. Overall Pittsburgh out-hit Boston 12 to 9. Early Wynn(5-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Joe Page recorded his 16th save. Jack Banta(10-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. By surrending 3 runs without retiring a batter his ERA jumped from 2.88 to 3.18. 'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Dale Mitchell said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!'
