First baseman Stan Musial had 3 base hits at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia-NL
Phillies beat the Boston-AL Red Sox by the count of 3 to 1.

Philadelphia-NL delivered all the runs required in the 5th inning when they
tallied 3 runs on 3 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Phil Rizzuto
who made the Philadelphia-NL fans a happy lot when he stroked a base-hit
which was good for two runs.  Philadelphia-NL finished with just 6 hits in
the victory.  

Monty Kennedy(4-2) got the win allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Steve Gromek
recorded the save, his 8th.  Jim Wilson(2-16) was hit with the loss.
