Thompson was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 3rd inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 5th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. Philadelphia-AL had a total of 12 hits for the game. Lemon(17-8) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Murry Dickson(11-12) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 3 and 1/3 innings of work. 'Thompson led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Lemon said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'
