Vic Wertz ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Wrigely Field where the very
talented Chicago-NL Cubs beat the floundering Cleveland Indians by the score
of 13 to 4.

Wertz enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He smacked a three-run homer in the 1st
inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 8th inning.
Chicago-NL finished with 14 hits while Cleveland ended up with 7.  

The victory went to Whitey Ford(16-2) who went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Frank Sullivan(4-10) was hit with the loss.  He was unable to control the
Chicago-NL offense and allowed 7 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.
