Duke Esper tossed a complete game shutout and Steve Brodie had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Pittsburg Pirates were badly beaten by the seemingly unstoppable Baltimore Orioles, 14 to 0. Brodie had a big day at the plate. He laced a one-base hit scoring a run in the 3rd inning, tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 4th inning, tripled in the 6th inning and tripled which scored a run in the 8th inning. Baltimore simply wore out the Pittsburg pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings. It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Esper(11-5). Charlie Hastings(4-6) was the loser. He allowed Baltimore 14 runs in 8 innings of work. Baltimore added another win to their now very impressive winning streak. Ned Hanlon was thrilled following the game -- 'We're really on a roll now. These guys are playing their hearts out and I couldn't be happier for them!'
