Walter Thornton went the distance as the spectacular Chicago Orphans destroyed
the New York Giants by a score of 15 to 4 at West Side Park.

Chicago set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 4 runners on 3
hits.  Chicago kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 4 runs on 3
hits.  The Chicago offense was as consistent as it was powerful.  They scored
in every inning, making a joke of the New York pitching.  

Thornton(11-8) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Amos
Rusie(13-8) ended up with the loss.  He was knocked around by Chicago,
allowing 14 hits and 9 walks in 8 innings.
