Third baseman Ed Lennox had 2 base hits and Frank Corridon was able to finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game at West Side Park where
the Boston-AL Red Sox beat the Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 6 to
3.

Chicago-NL was unable to climb back into it after Boston-AL went ahead for
good in the top of the 5th inning scoring 2 runs. Zack Wheat led off and
started the attack as he reached on an error. Tim Jordan stepped up to the
plate and he reached on an error. Lennox then reached on an error bringing
in a run. Jim Delahanty came up and he worked the squeeze play to perfection
scoring the final run of the inning. The Chicago-NL batters didn't put up a
fight in the bottom of the 9th.

Corridon(3-7) allowed 3 runs on the game. Eddie Plank(18-8) absorbed the loss.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Dale Van Leven sighed. 'That win feels like a
tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert
lately.'
