70,171 fans were treated to a fine game at Municipal Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Cleveland Indians won by the
slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.

Cleveland jumped out to the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2
runs on 2 base hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Jeff Heath who came
through for the home fans when he bombed a two-run dinger.  Cleveland
finished with 10 hits in the victory.  

The winning pitcher was Mike Garcia(14-4) who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings.
Gerry Staley gained credit for his 7th save.  Vic Raschi(16-6) was hit with
the loss.  

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Garcia said,
'this was one of those times.'
