First baseman Joe Collins smacked 2 triples and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati
Reds clobbered the outmatched Pittsburgh Pirates, 11 to 1.

Collins provided much of the offense.  He tripled in the 2nd inning, tripled
bringing home two baserunners in the 4th inning and ripped a one-base hit
plating a run in the 7th inning.  Cincinnati finished with 16 hits while
Pittsburgh ended up with 7.  

The victory went to Connie Marrero(11-4) who went 6 innings, allowing no runs.
Marrero got help from Preacher Roe who earned his 14th save.  Billy
Pierce(10-7) was charged with the loss.  He was knocked around by Cincinnati,
allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
