Left fielder Stan Musial hit a homerun and had 2 RBI and Jim Hughes quieted
any hopes that Washington may have had of a comeback at Ebbets Field as the
Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Washington Nationals 7 to 4.

Brooklyn came up with 2 runs in the 7th inning with the help of 3 hits. They
would be enough to earn the win. Hughes was perfect in relief and got the
save, his 5th.

The victory went to Harvey Haddix(7-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs.
Bob Rush(2-6) was hit with the loss. His ERA ballooned from 4.52 to 4.77 as
he allowed 6 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
