WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Nellie Fox robbed Billy Cox of a base hit.

Third baseman Eddie Yost had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Crosley Field where the New
York-AL Yankees beat the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 13 to 6.

Yost was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He slapped a base-hit in the 1st inning, slapped a
one-base hit resulting in a run in the 3rd inning, clubbed a solo home run in
the 5th inning and ripped a base-knock in the 9th inning. Cincinnati scored
in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.

Jake Thies(2-2) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Russ
Meyer(6-8) took the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 4 walks in
3 innings.
