Center fielder Curt Welch had 2 base hits and scored 3 times and Bob Caruthers
had a strong outing as the very strong St. Louis Browns defeated the
Louisville Colonels 5 to 1 at Recreation Park.

Caruthers(28-14) was very good in the win.  He allowed just 5 hits and no
walks in 9 innings.  St. Louis finished with 11 hits in the victory.  

Guy Hecker(21-24) suffered the loss.  'He had his 'A' game today,' Charlie
Comiskey said of Caruthers.  'Very impressive performance.'
