Mickey Welch went the distance at Polo Grounds as the New York Giants, running
on all cylinders, ripped the Indianapolis Hoosiers by a large 15 to 1
margin.
Mike Tiernan enjoyed a big day at the plate. He smashed a solo-shot out of
the park in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 3rd inning and
ripped a base-hit bringing in a run in the 6th inning. New York bats were
very productive in the 3rd inning tallying 4 runs and the 6th inning when
they had 5 runs on 4 hits. New York kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Welch(14-13) who allowed 1 run for the game. Doc
Leitner(3-3) was the loser. He served up 4 homeruns in his 8 innings.
