In a great finish the Brooklyn Superbas came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Boston Beaneaters by a score of 8 to 5 at South End
Grounds.

Brooklyn scored the winning runs in the 9th inning when they scored 4 runs on
4 hits. The key at-bat was by Cozy Dolan who silenced the crowd when he
smacked a single which was good for two runs. Brooklyn finished with 12 hits
in the victory.

The victory went to Bill Donovan(12-17) who went 8 innings, allowing 5 runs.
Donovan got help from Doc Newton who earned his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to Bill Dinneen(13-15). He was unable to control the Brooklyn
offense and allowed 12 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.

'The only way this one could have been better', said Donovan, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
