Catcher Jack O'Neill had 2 base hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Pittsburgh Pirates in 14 innings by the score of 3 to 2 at West Side
Park.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Chicago-NL ended up
winning it in the 14th inning.  After an out was recorded, Pat Moran ripped a
base-knock.  Fred Burchell next to the plate and he doubled.  Jimmy Williams
then drew a walk to load the bases.  One out later, Sam Leever then threw a
pitch that the catcher muffed giving Chicago-NL the win as 8,183 happy fans
joyfully celebrated.  Chicago-NL had 15 hits for the game and Pittsburgh had
10.  

Burchell(3-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 4 innings.
Leever(21-8) was tagged with the loss in relief.  It was a tough loss for him
as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
