Homer Smoot had 5 hits and Three Finger Brown allowed Patsy Donovan to rest
his bullpen, tossing a complete game at Robison Field where the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 11 innings 5 to 4.

Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, St. Louis
prevailed in the 11th inning.  After two were out Smoot doubled.  Jimmy Burke
followed and he was walked intentionally.  Jim Hackett then singled making
St. Louis the winners and sending the 6,098 fans home happy.  St. Louis
managed 12 hits in their victory.  

Brown(7-10) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Ed Doheny(12-11).  He surrendered 5 runs and 12 hits in 10 and 2/3
innings.
