First baseman Ed Konetchy had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Eddie Cicotte
delivered 9 solid innings as the Washington Nationals topped the hapless
Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 6 to 0 at West Side Park.

Chicago-NL was unable to climb back into it after Washington went ahead for
good in the 4th inning when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits.  Washington
banged out 12 hits on the afternoon.  

Cicotte(8-12) went the distance for the shutout. Russ Ford(4-12) was tagged
with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
