Tommy Bond completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Boston Red
Stockings beat the Chicago White Stockings by a score of 3 to 2.

The game was won by Boston with a run in the top of the 9th inning.  After an
out was recorded, Harry Schafer reached on an error.  Pop Snyder stepped up
to the plate and he reached on an error.  After another out, Jack Manning
then reached on an error scoring the run.  Chicago had 9 hits in the game
while Boston had 3, but Boston had the more timely hits.  

Bond(33-16) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Terry
Larkin(31-15) absorbed the loss.  He was the victim of a defensive lapse and
did not allow an earned run in the game.
