Second baseman Gene Demontreville blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Win
Mercer completed the game without help from the bullpen at Boundary Field as
the Washington Senators belted the Pittsburg Pirates by the count of 21 to
4.

It was a good day for Washington thanks to Demontreville.  He lined a base-hit
in the 1st inning, lofted a three-run bomb in the 2nd inning and cracked a
solo homerun in the 6th inning.  Washington bats were very productive in the
2nd inning with 7 runs on 6 hits and the 8th inning when they had 6 runs on 5
hits.  Washington finished with 24 hits in the victory.  

Mercer(16-15) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Jim Hughey(6-7)
suffered the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 7 and 1/3 innings.
