In a close game it was the Pittsburgh Pirates 8, the St. Louis Cardinals 6 at
Robison Field.

Irish McIlveen(1-2) looked good in relief and was the winning pitcher.  He
allowed only 5 hits and no walks in 5 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'.
Even though they scored in 5 different innings, St. Louis was not able to
pull off the win.  

Charlie Rhodes(5-3) ended up with the loss.  He was touched for 12 hits and 3
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
