Tris Speaker had 4 hits and Buck O'Brien was able to finish what he started
and was credited with a complete game at Fenway Park where the mighty Boston
Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Athletics 8 to 7.
Boston scored the deciding run in the 8th inning. Bill Carrigan delivered a
single. Carrigan then stole second base. O'Brien then laid down a sacrifice
bunt. Harry Hooper was up next and he hit a deep fly scoring the run.
Boston totaled 16 hits on the afternoon.
The win was credited to O'Brien(20-7) who went the whole way allowing 7 runs.
The loss was charged to Jack Coombs(20-8). He got hit pretty hard, allowing
16 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
