Johnny Evers had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the New
York-AL Highlanders by the score of 8 to 3 at Hilltop Park.

Detroit took the lead for keeps in the top of the 2nd inning with 3 runs on 5
base hits.  George Mullin kicked off the action when he laced a base-knock.
Bill Coughlin stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a base-knock.
Danny Hoffman followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Lee Tannehill came
up and he ripped a base-hit driving in a run.  Joe Sugden stepped into the
box and hit a sacrifice fly scoring one more run.  Frank Chance added his
contribution to the rally and lined a one-base hit.  Evers stepped up to the
plate and he slapped a single scoring the final run of the inning.  Detroit
had 15 hits overall, while New York-AL had 9.  

Mullin(14-20) got the win allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Red
Donahue(16-12) took the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 15 hits and 5 walks
in 9 innings.
