In a dramatic ending the New York-NL Giants staged a comeback and held on to
win over the lifeless Detroit Tigers by the count of 3 to 2.
New York-NL came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs using 2 hits. Amos Strunk kicked off the action when he lined
a single. Two outs later Honus Wagner stepped up to the plate and he cracked
a two-run shot. New York-NL managed 9 hits in their victory.
The win went to Tom Hughes(3-6) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. Hughes got
help from Jack Powell who was credited with his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to Ray Fisher(3-6).
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Fisher said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
