WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Del Pratt robbed Paddy Baumann of a base hit.

Red McKee had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Navin Field as the Detroit Tigers
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the St. Louis Browns by the count of
10 to 9.

Detroit scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits.
Paddy Baumann got things going when he slapped a one-base hit. Sam Crawford
stepped up to the plate and he doubled. Ty Cobb then reached on an error
scoring a run. Cobb took his lead and swiped second. After another out, Guy
Tutwiler struck out, unable to help the rally. McKee contributed to the
rally and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Bobby Veach stepped
into the batter's box and he doubled giving Detroit the win as 8,475 happy
fans joyfully celebrated. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead
change 5 times.

Charlie Grover(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and
allowing 1 run. The loss was charged to Earl Hamilton(9-13) in relief. He
was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the
game.

'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' McKee noted. 'It was looking
pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really
paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the
end!'
