Rube Waddell racked up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts and third baseman
Lave Cross hit 2 doubles as the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Detroit
Tigers by the score of 6 to 3 at Bennett Park.

Waddell(10-7) gave Philadelphia a solid outing.  He allowed only 8 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings.  Philadelphia and Detroit each finished the afternoon with
8 hits.  

Joe Yeager(9-5) ended up with the loss.  It was a tough loss for him as he did
not allow an earned run in his 9 innings of work.  

'I had my good stuff today.' Waddell said. 'As the game went along I started
to get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'
