Togie Pittinger completed the game without help from the bullpen and first
baseman Fred Tenney had 3 base hits as the Boston Beaneaters beat the
Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 6 to 4.

Boston tallied 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning when they had 4 base hits.
The key offensive moment was provided by Ed Abbaticchio who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he ripped a base-hit bringing home two baserunners.
Boston finished with 13 hits in the victory.

Pittinger(11-18) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Fred
Mitchell(7-14) ended up with the loss. He was unable to control the Boston
offense and allowed 13 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Pittinger said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't
put the ball where I wanted it.'
