WEB GEMS- Top 7th: Joe Delahanty robbed Jack Quinn of a base hit.

Honus Wagner hit a homerun at American League Park as the New York-NL Giants
won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Washington Nationals by the
count of 4 to 3.

New York-NL erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
with 2 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Hans Lobert kicked off the
action when he ripped a one-base hit. Patsy Dougherty followed next and he
laced a base-hit. Topsy Hartsel then reached on an error which brought home
a run. Ty Cobb came up and he ripped a single scoring the final run of the
inning. New York-NL had a total of 11 hits for the game.

Jack Quinn(6-5) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Irv Higginbotham
recorded his 9th save. Smoky Joe Wood(6-10) was the losing pitcher in
relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 2 hits and no walks.

Wood was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get away.
What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One minute
things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I get a
chance to redeem myself real soon!'
