Jean Dubuc whitewashed Chicago and Ty Cobb had 6 hits and 5 RBI as the Detroit
Tigers destroyed the Chicago White Sox by a score of 14 to 0 at Comiskey
Park.
Cobb had a good day at the plate. He lined a single scoring a run in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning, laced a one-base hit
which brought home a run in the 4th inning, doubled knocking in a run in the
6th inning, laced a base-hit in the 8th inning and banged out a single
plating a run in the 9th inning. The Detroit offense poured it on, scoring
in 7 of the 9 innings.
Dubuc(14-11) went the distance for the shutout. Joe Benz(10-14) was hit with
the loss. He was touched for 14 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
'Cobb led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,' Dubuc
said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'
