Center fielder Irv Noren had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Hal Newhouser went the
distance as the Washington Nationals outscored the New York-AL Yankees in 10
innings 4 to 3.

The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Washington ended up winning it in the
10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Joe Dimaggio reached on an error.
After another out, Noren stepped in and he ripped a base-hit.  Ray Boone then
drew a walk to load the bases.  Bobby Doerr came up and he stroked a single
making Washington the winners and sending the 2,942 fans home happy.
Washington finished with 7 hits in the victory.
