Al Dark blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Forbes Field as the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds 9 to 7.

Pittsburgh jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Dark who made the crowd
happy when he bombed a two-run dinger.  Pittsburgh had 11 hits for the game
and Cincinnati had 7.  

Early Wynn(12-13) went 7 innings allowing 7 runs for the win. Bob Friend
earned his 3rd save.  Paul Minner(8-8) suffered the loss.  By giving up 9
runs in 6 innings his ERA increased from 4.84 to 5.26.  

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Wynn said.
