Sal Maglie had a strong outing and Pee Wee Reese slammed a homerun and had 2
RBI as the very talented Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the woeful New York-AL
Yankees by a score of 5 to 3 at Wrigely Field.

The game started off with Chicago-NL taking the lead in the first scoring one
runner on 2 base hits. Reese banged out a single. Reese took second on a
stolen base. Two outs later Frank Thomas came up and he stroked a one-base
hit scoring the run. New York-AL threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.

Maglie(5-2) allowed no runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Satchel
Paige(1-6) suffered the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.
