Laurie Reis had a complete game as the Chicago White Stockings won at Lake
Front Park in dramatic fashion over the Providence Grays(P), the final score,
9 to 8.

The game was won by Chicago when they scored a run in the 9th inning.  After
an out was recorded, Cap Anson laced a single.  Bob Ferguson next to the
plate and he hit a single.  Frank Hankinson then ripped a base-knock making
Chicago the winners and sending the 2,708 fans home happy.  This was a game
of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 6
times in all.  

The win went to Reis(3-5) who allowed 8 runs in the game. Monte Ward(15-10)
was charged with the loss.  He gave up 9 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings of work.
