Dan Brouthers rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Kid Madden was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at South End
Grounds as the Boston Beaneaters pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the
Indianapolis Hoosiers by the count of 9 to 8.

Boston scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
on 3 base hits. Hardy Richardson led off the inning for Boston when he
doubled. Amos Rusie then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed. King Kelly
then delivered a one-base hit knocking in a run. After an out was recorded,
Brouthers stepped up to the plate and he delivered a solo blast making Boston
the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. This was the kind
of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 7 times.

The win went to Madden(8-9) who allowed 8 runs in the game. Rusie(5-9) was the
loser. He gave up 9 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings of work.

Wth the win Boston now has a record of 56-45. With the loss, the Indianapolis
ballclub's record is 48-61.
