Ad Gumbert tossed a complete game at Exposition Park as the Pittsburg Pirates
beat the Washington Senators by the count of 9 to 7.

Washington was unable to claim the lead after Pittsburg went ahead in the
bottom of the 7th inning plating one baserunner on 2 base hits.  After two
were out Patsy Donovan doubled.  Mike Smith was next and he ripped a
base-knock scoring the run.  Pittsburg simply wore out the Washington
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.  

Gumbert(9-16) allowed 7 runs on the game. Al Maul(11-12) took the loss.  He
got hit pretty hard, allowing 11 hits and 6 walks in 8 innings.
