Cincinnati brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. After two outs Mike Mowrey initiated the scoring spurt when he delivered a base-hit. Admiral Schlei stepped up next and he lashed a single. Paddy Livingston then tripled driving in two more baserunners. That early scoring was all that Weimer(16-15) needed. Chicago made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Ed Reulbach(12-7) was hit with the loss. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered just 6 hits and no walks.
