What a day for the Detroit Tigers! They shellacked the St. Louis-AL Browns
pitching for 9 runs while Red Ames(10-5), with relief help from Jack
Pfiester, held St. Louis-AL to 1 run.

Detroit jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up
with 2 runs on 3 hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Ames and
Detroit.  That was all the run support Ames required.  For the game Detroit
out-hit St. Louis-AL 13 to 7.  

The losing pitcher was Tom Hughes(6-3). Detroit knocked him around a bit, as
he gave up 7 runs in 6 innings.  Wth the win Detroit now has a record of a
division leading 90-45.  St. Louis-AL has a record of 58-77 after the loss.
