one-run game at Polo Grounds. The final score was the Washington Nationals
2, the New York Yankees 1 in 12 innings.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Washington ended up
winning it in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Chick Gandil
ripped a base-hit. Wally Smith came next and he drew a walk. Gandil
proceeded to steal third base. Rip Williams followed and he was walked
intentionally to load the bases. George McBride came to the plate and
stroked a single scoring the run. McBride took second on the throw. New
York had 13 hits in the game while Washington had 8, but Washington had the
more timely hits.
